What to build

Power users who have collected 1000+ browser bookmarks face a real problem: the bookmark bar becomes a graveyard. Links get saved with the intent to return but are never found again because there is no meaningful structure, tagging, or search across them. Manual folder organization does not scale past a few hundred items, and the payoff of curating is deferred indefinitely.

Bookmark Curator with AI Topic Clustering ingests an existing bookmark export or syncs with the browser, then uses AI to auto-tag and cluster links into coherent topics. Instead of asking users to organize, it does the organizing for them and turns the pile into a searchable, auto-tagged knowledge base. The core insight is that the value is not in saving links (browsers already do that) but in retrieval and rediscovery.

The MVP is narrow: an import flow for a browser bookmark HTML export, an embedding-based clustering pass that groups links into named topics, auto-generated tags, and a fast search box. Ship that as a web app plus a lightweight browser extension for capturing new links. Dead-link detection and optional page archival are natural follow-on features already validated by the self-hosted community (Shiori, Linkwarden, Reminiscence all added archival).

Revenue is a straightforward B2C subscription. A free tier that clusters up to a capped number of bookmarks, and a paid tier (roughly $4 to $8/mo) for unlimited bookmarks, continuous re-clustering, archival, and full-text search across archived pages. AI inference cost per user is the main variable to watch, so batch the clustering and cache aggressively.

Go-to-market starts where these users already congregate: a Show HN launch with an open-core or generous free tier, matching the pattern that Shiori, Linkwarden, and Reminiscence used to gain traction. The differentiator in the pitch is the AI clustering that the incumbents (Raindrop.io) treat as manual work.

Growth loops: the browser extension creates daily habit and word of mouth; shareable public topic collections (a user's curated cluster on a subject) act as SEO landing pages and referral surfaces; and the more a user imports, the higher their switching cost becomes.

power users with 1000+ unorganized browser bookmarks

Raindrop.io

The keyword data is a caution flag, not a green light. 'Productivity tools' shows enormous volume (165000) but a -99.9% growth reading, and every bookmark-specific term is both low volume and sharply declining: 'bookmark manager' (6600, -33.3%), 'best bookmark manager' (210, -65.6%), 'bookmark manager alternative' (10, -100%). This signals a mature, shrinking search category with limited top-of-funnel demand for the generic term. The offsetting signal is community, not search: multiple Show HN launches for bookmark managers indicate a real, engaged builder-and-power-user niche. The realistic read is a small but passionate audience reachable through communities and product-led loops rather than through SEO on declining keywords.
