Self-Study Curriculum Planner for Solo Learners

Self-taught developers and career switchers face a recurring problem: they set a vague goal like "learn backend development" or "become a data analyst" but have no structured path to get there. They cobble together plans in Notion using manual templates, which quickly go stale, offer no reminders, and require constant maintenance the learner is not equipped to do. The result is scattered progress, abandoned courses, and burnout.

Self-Study Curriculum Planner turns a vague learning goal into a structured weekly curriculum. The solution takes a stated objective, breaks it into sequenced weekly milestones, layers in spaced repetition reminders so material actually sticks, and tracks progress against the plan so learners can see momentum. Unlike Notion with manual templates, the plan is generated and adaptive rather than something the user has to build and babysit.

The MVP is intentionally narrow: a goal-input flow, an auto-generated weekly curriculum, spaced repetition reminder notifications, and a simple progress dashboard. No community features, no marketplace, no course hosting in v1.

Revenue is a straightforward B2C subscription. Comparables in adjacent solo-creator and productivity tooling show meaningful traction: Stan runs at roughly $35,697/mo MRR (payment-verified via Stripe), while Gumroad shows roughly $71,439 revenue in the last 30 days and easytools roughly $27,036 (both non-subscription figures, payment-verified via Stripe). These indicate willingness to pay for lightweight tools that serve individuals directly.

Go-to-market leans on the exact communities where solo learners already congregate: YouTube study-routine and timetable content, Notion beginner tutorials, and developer Q&A on Stack Exchange. Content that shows a generated curriculum versus a blank Notion page is the wedge.

Growth loops: learners share their generated curriculum publicly (accountability posts perform well on YouTube and social), each shared plan is a landing page that recruits the next user, and completion streaks give users a reason to return and to talk about the tool.
